How to Build a Modern Data Platform

The goal of this hands-on lab is to showcase how organizations can achieve faster Mean Time to Analysis and Decision (MTTA/MTTD) as they transition and pivot to embracing digital transformation. Secure access to trustworthy data, as and when needed while enabling participation in data experience.

You will learn to build a modern data platform with an emphasis on Data Lake House using out-of-box tooling and integrations available in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

We will demonstrate how to use publicly available data sets and store it in an object store bucket (a.k.a. Data Lake). We will then harvest this data and make it accessible to Autonomous Data Warehouse (ADW) by using Data Catalog without physically moving data out of the Data Lake. We will schedule harvest jobs to facilitate automated processing of new incoming content into the Data Lake.

In addition, we will transform the data using OCI’s Data Integrator tool by creating data flows.

Last but not the least we will create visualizations using this ingested data and demonstrate the full capabilities of Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC).

About the speaker:

Ajay Padhye
Oracle Corporation

Ajay has over twenty years of experience working with Oracle technologies in healthcare, manufacturing, and government and education sectors. He began his career as a Peoplesoft developer and transitioned into the role of a database administrator and platform architect. Prior to joining Oracle in 2021, Ajay was a senior database architect at a large, diversified power management company.

Ajay has extensive experience working with technologies like Oracle ASM, RAC, Exadata (starting with version V2); performance tuning and data warehousing, and BI/analytics solutions. More recently he architected a large scale Zero Data Loss Recovery Appliance implementation. He is a certified Oracle Cloud Architect.

Ajay’s strengths are collaborating with customers, understanding business requirements, and converting them into viable IT solutions. He was also a presenter at 2019 Oracle Open World conference.
